Dr. Robert L. Bjork, MD, the sole practitioner in the office at its inception, has been practicing pediatrics in the San Diego and La Jolla areas for over 15 years. He has board-certified in Pediatrics in 1993, 2000, and 2007, and is a member of the medical staff at Scripps Memorial Hospital- La Jolla.Dr. Bjork served in a leadership position with the ScrippsHealth Clinical Research Center from 2000-2016, and is actively engaged in scientific research in many areas, primarily in Cancer Immunology where he is a patent-holder, and he also holds a patent in a novel coronary artery stent coating to facilitate optimal healing after a stent placement procedure. He has also published in Autism research, and continues this research at present, and has also published in Genomics. In addition, he is working on creating a new funding structure for Medicare and Medicaid, and on improving health care, and health care coverage for all Americans. His training after graduating from UCSD undergraduate and Medical School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, was at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and UCLA School of Medicine.He and his wife Elise (a Dental Hygienist) have four children, ages 14 through 21, and all enjoy outdoor sports and active academic life.
