In addition, he is working on creating a new funding structure for Medicare and Medicaid, and on improving health care, and health care coverage for all Americans. His training after graduating from UCSD undergraduate and Medical School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, was at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and UCLA School of Medicine.He and his wife Elise (a Dental Hygienist) have four children, ages 14 through 21, and all enjoy outdoor sports and active academic life.
