Willoughby Drugs pharmacist-in-charge honored as a Distinguished Health Professional
CLIFTON, TN — The Global Directory of Who’s Who recognizes Karisten Martin, PharmD, as a Distinguished Health Professional for her pharmacy leadership, commitment to personal patient relationships, and community engagement. As pharmacist-in-charge and store manager at Willoughby Drugs, located at 104 Main Street in Clifton, Tennessee, Martin is dedicated to getting to know the people her pharmacy serves and preserving its local legacy. Martin earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from South College in Knoxville in 2018, following undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Her interest in the profession began during a high-school clinical internship at Main Street Pharmacy in Savannah, Tennessee, where she shadowed a pharmacist and discovered her career direction. The pharmacy subsequently hired her, and she worked there for approximately 12 years. That early experience helped shape a career centered on community pharmacy and personal connections with patients. Her commitment to education extends beyond the pharmacy. Martin regularly speaks at the local Rotary Club about healthcare trends and has visited a kindergarten classroom to explain the pharmacist’s role as a community helper. “I’ve gotten to know all of my patients here by first name,” she shared during her interview, underscoring the relationships that motivate her work.
