LaShene Lowe is a life-long resident of Westfield, North Carolina. Her education began at Ridge-Westfield Elementary. She attended Palmer Memorial Institute - the most prestigious African American Boarding School in the United States. She earned a BSEd at Lincoln University and a Master's at Western Carolina University of Cullowhee. She was President of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Professionally LaShene taught and volunteered as an Assistant Principal. She also served as Director of Legislators' School for Youth Leadership Development and Facilitator for Closing the Achievement Gap. She is presently the President of the African-American Historical and Genealogical Society of Surry County Inc., where she has been a member since 2012. LaShene has been honored from Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.
