She attended Palmer Memorial Institute - the most prestigious African American Boarding School in the United States. Professionally LaShene Lowe taught and volunteered as an Assistant Principal. She also served as Director of Legislators' School for Youth Leadership Development and Facilitator for Closing the Achievement Gap. She is presently the President of the African-American Historical and Genealogical Society of Surry County Inc., where she has been a member since 2012.
