About Khalil Abdar Rashid

 As a kid I was aware of the destruction that alcohol and drugs were having on my family and community. I grew up in a family and community devastated by alcohol and drug use. These things seemed normal. It wasn’t until my own experience with alcohol, drugs, and treatment did I realize that these things weren’t normal and the true impact they were having on my family and community were far greater than I knew. As a result, I decided I needed to be a part of the solution. In treatment I discovered my purpose and passion and have dedicated my life to its’ pursuit and fulfillment.

  I went to prison at the age of 17. I spent 25 yrs. & 27 days In prison. I’ve been in this field for over 20 years. I graduated college with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. I became a certified Peer Recovery Specialist in 2018. I received my CADC in 2019. I became a certified supervisor of peer specialists in 2021. I’m received my MBA in2022. I published a book: ‘Black Boy Lost’ in 2017 and ‘Faith’s Journey’ in 2019, and “Suffering in Silence” in 2021. I started my non-profit “Missed Opts Inc.” In 2021. I am currently the Outpatient South Program Supervisor for RI International.
