Dr. Evgenia Sklirou was born and raised in Athens, Greece. She came to the United States in 2013. She was accepted into the Medical Genetics residency at UPMC. Following a two-year training, she completed a one-year fellowship in Medical Biochemical Genetics. During her fellowship, she participated in a research project to develop and test a point of care device to test blood phenylalanine levels in patients with phenylketonuria. She sees a substantial number of patients with genetic disorders, including inborn errors of metabolism.
