About:

Kyle R. McCarthy, O.D. was born and raised in Ventura County and is excited to be back serving the members of the community. He received his Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry at UCLA in 2012 and a Doctorate in Optometry at the University of California Berkeley (UCBSO) in 2018. He completed extensive externships at clinic sites focusing on ocular disease attending high capacity hospital clinics at Fresno Veterans Affairs Hospital, Casa Grande Veterans Affairs Hospital, and the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana.

The community has always been important to Dr. McCarthy, and he has always done his best to give back, whether it be within his hometown, or his optometric community. While attending UCBSO, he was the President of the Optometry school, the student representative for the Strategic Planning Committee, and was on the Alumni Association Board. Additionally, he received several honors for leadership and academia while attending UCBSO including the Ming Pow Low Scholarship for Student Leadership and the William J. Burlington Memorial Scholarship. He also volunteers with local youth sports programs in Ventura County, was a Community Service Officer with the UCLA Police Department, and is a tutor/mentor for current students interested in attending Optometry school in the future.

Dr. McCarthy is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and a board member of the Tri-County Optometric association. In 2021, Dr. McCarthy was honored to receive the Ventura County Medical Resource Foundation's distinction for Vision Care Specialist of the year! By starting Las Posas EyeCare, Dr. McCarthy has been able to serve the wonderful community in which he was raised; something he has been looking forward to his entire career.
