About:
I am Dr. Aparna Hernandez, an internal medicine physician in Orlando, Florida, with more than 28 years of experience caring for adult patients. I have practiced general internal medicine since February 1998 and currently focus exclusively on outpatient care at Southwest Internal Medicine Specialists. My practice allows me to address a wide range of medical concerns while helping patients coordinate their overall healthcare and navigate both routine and complex medical conditions.
I received my medical education from the University of Bombay in India and completed my residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. I also pursued additional training in cardiology at the University of Pittsburgh. Although I ultimately chose to concentrate my career on internal medicine, that additional cardiology experience continues to complement the comprehensive care I provide to my patients.
What I value most about medicine is the trust that develops through continuity of care. Some of my patients have been with me for nearly three decades. Over the years, I have had the privilege of helping individuals through diagnoses involving heart disease, cancer, and other significant health challenges. Even when patients travel to major medical centers for specialty evaluations, many continue to contact me for my perspective and guidance. I consider being entrusted with someone's healthcare one of the most meaningful responsibilities a physician can have.
I am affiliated with the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association and maintain professional relationships with leading healthcare institutions in the Orlando area. I have also been recognized as a Top Doctor in Orlando by Orlando Magazine for approximately the past decade. My goal remains the same as it has throughout my career: to provide thoughtful, consistent, compassionate internal medicine care while building relationships that patients can rely on for years to come.
