Substitute in Miami, Florida 1968 Kindergarten assistant teacher 1971 in ColoradoSprings, CO Substitute teacher at Fort Jackson, SC 1974 Art Director for WNOK TV 1975 -1976 Temporary 4th grade teacher at Brooklyn S. D. A. School 1977 Substitute teacher in South Orange and city schools in northern New Jersey, 1977 - ‘78 Commissioned painter of 10 illustrations + posters, and logos for Allegheny East Conference of S.D.A.’s 1978 – 80. Full time art teacher at the Pine Forge Academy 1978 – 1980 Substitute teacher for the Prince Georges County Schools 1980 -1984 Water Color Teacher for Adult classes at Prince George County Junior College. Wilkerson in 1997. Incorporated new business and used new computer. Entrepeneur - Attended the Kauffman Fast Tract in Kansas City, MO Did a Business plan for CREATE*A*CRAFT and paste-up layout for POM-POM PICTURES. Designed and ordered die cutting equipment for punch cards. Attended craft show in Dallas. Purchased a McIntosh computer and drawing software! Changed company objective to include children’s games. The new name for communication was EDU-TOY. Designed new games in the computer for reading, geography and math. Discovered a whole new approach to charting addition calculation and with triangles, angles, and addition stars. These stars charted up to 2000 3 number facts. Wrote and illustrated Math Star Wonder Numbers.

By fourteen an additional artistic interest and talent was discovered by Famous Artist school. My first artistic works were pastel portraits of younger brothers and sisters.
A very exceptional instrumental program in Elkhart provided year around orchestra and string instruction. Her parents paid for private ‘cello lessons for seven years. Her High School was rated among the top three symphonic high school orchestras in the country. The Grammy recording artist David Darling was the first chair cellist of her cello section and had the same cello teacher.
Carolyn Woodard integrated Roosevelt Elementary School single handed-ly at the age of 4, ten years before the rest of the country was required to integrate the public schools in 1954 after the Kansas Case. Roosevelt was about two miles from the innercity where she was raised. Her Uncle a recently released WW II veteran insisted on accepting the Board of Education’s early invitation to integrate.
Carolyn Woodard’s parents were Levi and Roberta Woodard. Her Woodard grandfather passed along his welding and horseshoeing trade to her father. Levi Woodard had two years of Normal school when he played football for Western Kentucky University. Her mother graduated early from the top of her class at Western High and became a skilled tailor and chef. Her sisters were trained teachers at Wilberforce, University and also piano and organ performers. Her father was a well know Kentucky statesman and principal of the Western Kentucky High School. He also was involved in the organization of Simmons University and awarded an honorary doctorate from that institution. Her mother was Callie Carr Barker, trained to teach at Fisk University.
She holds patents for several products designed to enhance the learning experience for elementary students.
