Holbrook, New York- Dr. Maxwell A. Helfgott is President at Eye Physicians of Washington. He is a 3rd generation Doctor and 2nd generation Ophthalmologist. He specializes in Ophthalmology, anterior segment eye surgery, including cataract, cornea, glaucoma and refractive surgery. Dr. Helfgott was Chief Resident Washington Hospital Center in 1976 and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Washington Hospital Center from 1995-2010. 

Dr. Helfgott was born in Washington, DC. He received his M.D. from George Washington University, his Internship at St. Vincent's Hospital, NYC and completed his Residency in Ophthalmology at Washington Hospital Center. 

He has been featured as a Top Doctor in Washington Magazine, multiple times. Dr. Helfgott has a few publications to his credit and has spoken locally, nationally and internationally. He is Past President of the Washington DC Ophthalmologic Society and member of the Med Star Washington Hospital Center and the American Board of Ophthalmology.
