Terra Haute, IN –The Global Directory of Who's Who is proud to announce the inclusion of Retired Lieutenant Colonel Norman E. Cottrell in its esteemed registry. Lt. Col. Cottrell's distinguished military career and his ongoing dedication to supporting veterans have earned him this prestigious recognition.

Lt. Col. Norman E. Cottrell earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University, where he studied criminology, law enforcement, and political science, with minors in German and Spanish. while on Active Duty he attended the Officers’ Advance Course and the demanding Command and General Staff Course which is a Master’s Degree granting program.

His service record is exemplary. He received four Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts, and a Silver Star for his valor and bravery during the Vietnam War. Beyond his academic and military achievements, Lt. Col. Cottrell has remained an active and influential member of his community. 

He is affiliated with several veterans' organizations, including the Loyal Veteran’s Brigade, where he plays a vital role in assisting homeless veterans by providing clothing, food, and other necessities. Additionally, he is involved with the Veterans Association, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Lt. Col. Cottrell specialized in the security and training of staff for the deployment of nuclear devices, including small atomic detonation munitions known as "Backpack nukes." His expertise in this critical area contributed significantly to national security. 

During his time in the military, he was a member of the elite Green Berets and served all over the world. Add: After winding down his military career, Col Cottrell spent 17 years with the Pillsbury Company after which he became the Chairman of the Conduct Adjustment Board at Carlisle Prison. After which he became a merit member of the Vigo County Indiana Sheriff’s Dept. After 29 years with the Department, Colonel Cottrell finally retired from public service and now serves as an advisor for Corporate Security. He is a Life Member of the Combat Infantry Badge Association and the prestigious Military Order of the Purple Heart.  

In his personal life, Lt. Col. Cottrell enjoys hunting deer and fishing, reflecting his deep appreciation for the outdoors. He has been happily married for 40 years, exemplifying his commitment to family and personal values.
