Among his notable honors, Dr. Tomczyk received the 2026 Optum Patient Choice Award for patient satisfaction, as well as the 2026 Bryan E. Bednarz, MD Faculty Award, which recognized his extraordinary influence, dedication, and mentorship of surgical residents. He stated that receiving the faculty award at graduation was a major career accomplishment. Dr. Tomczyk attributes his success to having a supportive group of partners and colleagues, remembering the hard work it took to reach his current position, using those experiences to mentor residents effectively, and keeping family as an important priority outside of work. His wife, Eleanor Tomczyk, MD, is a plastic surgeon, and together they are the proud parents of three children: Theodore, Sophie, and Lucy.
