Lifschutz, MD, FAPA, for his distinguished career and contributions to psychiatry, trauma treatment, and clinical psychopharmacology. A board-certified psychiatrist and clinical psychopharmacologist, Dr. Lifschutz is widely respected for his patient-centered approach and expertise in treating adolescents and adults with complex emotional and psychological conditions. His clinical focus includes ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, trauma treatment, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), attachment disorders, and emotional wellness for patients as young as 13 years old. Over the years, he has also become a highly skillful provider of AEDP, utilizing the therapeutic model to help patients process trauma, strengthen emotional resilience, and achieve lasting personal growth. Dr. Lifschutz graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health before completing his psychiatric residency and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Los Angeles County–University of Southern California (USC) Medical Center. He further advanced his expertise through seven years of psychoanalytic training at the NYU Postdoctoral Program for Psychoanalysis. Certified by both the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Lifschutz is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and maintains memberships with the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, the American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. In addition to his private practice and clinical leadership, Dr. Lifschutz serves as an attending staff psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital, where he supervises psychiatry residents and contributes to the education of future physicians. He has also been actively involved in the FAA/HIMS program, helping pilots overcome addiction, panic attacks, and emotional challenges, including successfully guiding a young pilot through cockpit panic attacks and back to confident flying. A private pilot himself with an instrument rating and approximately 500 flight hours, Dr. Lifschutz brings a unique understanding to aviation-related mental health. He has also contributed to published medical literature, including his article “The Parents in the Next Room,” which explored intimacy and relationships among parents raising young children. Through his dedication to compassionate care, innovative treatment methods, and medical education, Dr. Lifschutz continues to make a lasting impact within the psychiatric community and beyond.
