Mr. Berkman brings an extensive academic and professional background to his mission. He earned his Juris Doctor from Lewis & Clark Law School, holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from Wheaton College. His career has spanned law, business, public policy, and human rights advocacy. A former U.S. Army Captain, he was awarded the Joint Services Commendation Medal in recognition of his exemplary service.

In addition to his civic contributions, Mr. Berkman has made significant strides in the business and cultural arenas. He was a co-organizer of Applied Materials, one of the largest technology companies in the world, and was appointed President of the Advisory Board of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He was also honored with the Astounding Business Leader Award by Northwood University, highlighting his dynamic leadership and influence across multiple sectors.
