As the Chairman of the Board of Eastern Connecticut Bald Eagle Pow Wows Group, Inc., Capt. Bernier continues to spearhead initiatives that uplift and empower the veteran community while fostering strong civic engagement.
With a distinguished background in intelligence and government operations, Capt. Bernier brings a wealth of knowledge in leadership, intelligence analysis, and strategic team coordination. He earned a Master’s in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from St. Louis University.
A lifelong advocate for veterans, Capt. Bernier has been a proud member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) since 1993. His service includes holding top positions such as Department Commander for the State of Connecticut, a role he fulfilled with distinction through May 2015. His dedication has not gone unnoticed—he is the recipient of numerous accolades, including the Meritorious Service Award and Target Officer of the Year (1990).
Capt. Bernier also devotes his time to several community and fraternal organizations. He is a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, an Eagle Scout, and a committed member of the Military Officers Association of America. His contributions to air power operations during the Gulf War remain a testament to his strategic expertise and patriotism.
Outside of his professional and volunteer work, Capt. Bernier enjoys scuba diving, golf, and photography—interests that reflect his zest for life and lifelong learning.
